The Surf City Swing Bridge connects Topsail Island to the North Carolina mainland via state highway 210 east.It was built in 1959 to accommodate the heavy boat traffic on the inter coastal water way. A new high-rise bridge is scheduled to replace the "rumble - rumble" sound of vehicles crossing the bridge making the quaint atmosphere for many no more than history remembered.
Seen here it just beginning to open for a line-up up of waiting boat traffic to pass through.
The swing bridge photos are available to purchase in the Surf City Swing Bridge Gallery. It is available as a print, on canvas, on metal and a variety of other options.
